Doi Inthanon mountain, also know as "the roof of Thailand" is the highest peak in the country (2,565 meters). It is a mountainous and rugged area with a very rich ecosystem. The various altitude zones along the way host many different species of flora and fauna and spectacular waterfalls. Doi Inthanon also contains several hill tribe villages, most of them Hmong and Karen. Much of the base of Doi Inthanon is used as agricultural land by the Hmong people who are very good in this field. The mountain's summit is covered with magnolia, rhododendron and a thriving population of sun birds.
